Early Morning Accident Leads to Charges

Two young women were hurt in a car crash early Thursday morning  in Dekalb County.

According to the highway patrol report, 24 year old Kylie Duncan of St. Joe was heading east on US 36 at MO 31 when she lost control of her vehicle. The car went off the road, hit a sign, and then crossed the westbound lanes of US 36 where it overturned. Duncan was seriously injured, and her passenger, 21 year old Shelby George of Garden City, MO suffered moderate injuries. They were taken to Heartland Regional.

Upon investigation, Duncan was charged with allegedly driving while intoxicated, 2nd Degree assault, careless imprudent driving and no seat belt. She was released to the care of the hospital.

Victim of molestation case incommoded / hearing continued

SCHUYLER COUNTY, Mo. – A former pastor of a church in Schuyler County appeared at a preliminary hearing Friday in a child sex crimes case first reported by KMZU.

George Bradburn, 68, of Queen City, Mo. was arrested in June, 2016 and charged with first degree Statutory Sodomy – Deviate Sexual Intercourse With A Person Less Than 14 Years Old.

During a scheduled preliminary hearing Friday, October 21, 2016, state prosecutors advised the court the alleged victim had been in a vehicle accident, and was suffering severe headaches and nausea.  He was therefore, unable to understand or answer questions during a conference conducted during a court recess.  A continuance was allowed to accommodate a future conference with the alleged victim.

The defendant’s motion for a bond reduction was denied by the court.

According to the probable cause statement, the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office conducted an interview of the male victim in May of this year. He described how he was allegedly molested by the pastor over several years, starting when he was 12, until his 18th birthday.

Bradburn is due back in court October 31, 2016, at 9 a.m. for another preliminary hearing.

An Odessa resident, Debra Jane (George) Stephenson, 63, died Friday, May 5, 2017.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home in Odessa.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 8 at the funeral home.

Burial is in Greenton Cemetery.

Knox County case finalized with 20 year sentence for sodomy

KNOX COUNTY, MO – A Kirksville man was sentenced Friday to twenty years imprisonment for statutory sodomy.

According to Knox County court documentation, George C. Bradburn was sentenced to ten years each, for two counts of first degree statutory sodomy with a person less than 14.

Bradburn pleaded guilty to the charges in August. The two terms are to be served consecutively.

Case made against Moberly man alleging child endangerment

MOBERLY, MO – A Moberly man was charged yesterday in Randolph County after his arrest by County officials.

A warrant citing endangerment of a child involving sexual contact, and statutory sodomy, names George L. Griffin, 61, of Moberly. It was served by County deputies Tuesday. Bond has been set at $20,000.

An arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday in Randolph County.

Financial exploitation charges leveled against two Richmond residents

CARROLLTON, MO – Warrants were obtained Tuesday for two Richmond residents both accused of financial exploitation.

According to court documents, Alfred Huffman, 81, and Ray George, 40, were both formally charged with class D felonies for financial exploitation of an elderly or disabled person. An investigation was assisted by Carroll County Sheriff’s Department. Bond is set for Huffman and George, at $25,000 each with 10% not allowed.

No court dates have yet been scheduled.

Financial exploitation charges proceeds against Richmond residents

LEXINGTON, MO – Warrants were served this week to defendants in a case of financial exploitation.

Two Richmond residents are accused of formal charges after allegedly accepting a check from Norborne residents this September, in payment of insecticide treatment around a residence. According to a probable cause statement, Alfred Huffman, 81, and Ray George, 50, claimed to be with a pest control company offering free inspections. It was reported to the Carroll County Sheriff that the cost of a subsequent treatment was deemed to be unusually high, according to the alleged victim. Additionally, a second pest control specialist, reportedly verified that proper technique was not used by Huffman and George in treating the residence. There was also no evidence of carpenter ants, as had been claimed by the suspects.

Huffman and George were both charged with a single count of financial exploitation of the elderly, a class D felony. Huffman and George have both posted $25,000 bond. A hearing for Huffman is set for 9 a.m. January 10.

Sunday vigil in Eldon for woman missing since November

MILLER COUNTY, Mo. – A candlelight vigil is being held for a woman missing from Miller County since November of 2017.

Police say Michelle Fennell, 45, was last seen in Tuscumbia on the 11th of November, getting into a truck, driven by a man named “George”. Fennell is a white female, with brown hair and eyes, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 110 pounds. There is no clothing description, but she has a black and red vampire bite tattoo on her right thigh, a scar on her left hand and two ear piercings in her left ear and one in the right.

The vigil is from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, at the Eldon Community Center.

Arraignment scheduled for inmate accused of manslaughter

BOONVILLE, MO – An inmate at Boonville Correctional Facility is facing additional charges after reportedly killing another inmate during a physical altercation October 14.

Court records show formal arraignment Tuesday for George Black, accused of involuntary manslaughter in the first degree. The hearing in Cooper County is 10:30 a.m.

Ronald George Closterman, 85, of Waverly, MO, passed away Friday, August, 9, 2019, at his home.

Born December 28, 1933, in Grand Pass, MO, he was the son of the late George B. Closterman and Lois Ritchhart Closterman. He was a 1951 graduate of Grand Pass High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea. On November 1, 1956, he married Elnora Jordon who survives of the home. He retired as detective sergeant from the Kansas City Police Department after 30 years of service. He then worked eight years at the Raymore Police Department serving as captain. He loved to fish and be on the Missouri River.

In addition to his wife Elnora, Ronald is survived by one daughter, Ronda Branner (Steve) of Alma, MO; two grandchildren, Benjamin Arbuthnot and Katelyn (Kate) Sutton; five great-grandchildren, Sabrina and Savannah Young and Ronald, Samuel and Dakota Arbuthnot; one brother, Royce Closterman (Ruth) of Kansas City North, MO; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Closterman.

Liberty resident, Stephen George Davis, 58, died Saturday, September 7.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 13 at the Fairhaven Cemetery in Norborne. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday at the Thurman Funeral Home in Norborne.

George William Kitchin

George William Kitchin, age 66, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

George was born the son of Raymond and Virginia (Rex) Kitchin on July 31, 1953, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was a 1971 graduate of Chillicothe High School. He worked on the street crew for the City of Chillicothe for 15 years. George most recently worked in maintenance for Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. George enjoyed volunteering with the annual car show in Chillicothe.

Survivors include one son, George Michael “Blaine” Kitchin of Chillicothe, Missouri; one daughter, Clarice “Sho Sho” Midgyett of Chillicothe, Missouri; one brother, C.W. Kitchin of Chillicothe, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Oscar, Kenneth “Kenny”, and Raymond Rex Kitchin.

Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, November 11, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, November 10, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.  Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, November 10, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held at South Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Two Mid-Missouri residents arrested on drug charges in Cooper County

COOPER COUNTY, Mo – Two Mid-Missouri residents were arrested in Cooper County on multiple charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Taija George, 25, of Boonville and Cody Nitcher, 21, of Auxvasse were arrested around 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3. George was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine, distribution of a controlled substance and other driving citations. Nitcher was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance.

Both are in custody at the Cooper County Jail.
